Amish Tripathi is a Mumbai-based author. Tripathi's debut work The Immortals of Meluha after being rejected from several publishers went on to becoming a surprise bestseller that too landing the top seller charts within a week of its release. The Immortals of Meluha, which also is the first in the Shiva Trilogy is a fictional biography of Lord Shiva. The story speaks about how Shiva was just a man, 4000 years ago but is now remembered as Lord of the Lords. The second book in the trilogy, The Secret of the Nagas, was an awaited book and lived up to the expectations of people.
Career
Tripathi holds a weighty management degree from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Calcutta. He has worked in the financial service industry for about 14 years before turning to writing as a career. Amish was interested in being a historian, and he chose a career in finance because he thought he couldn't afford the former.
Immortals of Meluha, the first volume of the Shiva trilogy, had sold 175,000 copies by August 2011, when The Secret of the Nagas was released with 100,000 copies out of which 80,000 copies were pre-ordered.
